The Notebook
An original piano melody composed and performed entirely by me, presented with scenes from the film. No DAW or AI was used.

Music · Seongtaek Kwon
I am a self-taught pianist and composer drawn to classical music, memorable melody and the emotional scale of orchestral sound.

My process
I compose melodies and harmonic progressions by hand at the piano. Some pieces remain pure piano compositions. For others, I build the orchestration, atmosphere and sound myself in a DAW.
The works below were composed and produced by me without AI. Every melody, musical decision and orchestral layer began with my own hands and ears.

The vision
As a child in Korea, I saw grand pianos only in Korean and Japanese animation. I had never seen one in real life. Owning one, let alone playing it, felt like something that belonged entirely to television.
“Still, I imagined myself at that piano.”
At 31, I began teaching myself to play. In 2017, I began building Piano House around the instrument I had once thought impossible to possess.
Today, Piano House is my home. A childhood vision became a place I can enter, live in and create from every day.
Selected original work
From pure piano composition to orchestration and DAW production. No AI was used in these works.

I composed the piano music and built the orchestral production in a DAW to fit the rhythm, tension and emotional arc of the Joker trailer. No AI was used in the music. I also performed on camera, applying the makeup, playing the piano and opening its lid as part of the story.
I wrote this after learning that a childhood friend had become permanently ill. The music gave form to feelings that ordinary words could not carry.
Original music I created for my daughter and me to perform together. A composition becomes especially meaningful when it holds a shared memory.
Recognition that mattered
These moments did not replace the work of learning. They made the work feel seen and encouraged me to continue.

“AI can generate music. Human intention turns sound into expression.”
Pressing a generate button can return a finished track, but that is different from learning an instrument, creating a melody, shaping its progression and deciding how every layer serves the emotion.
Musical interests

Piano-led melodies with an interest in cinematic emotion and memorable themes.
Expanding piano ideas through DAW production, orchestral instruments and layered sound.
Applying modern tools while preserving human intention, authorship and judgment.
