A belief I have tested on myself
Ability is built.
What looks like talent from the outside is often time, failure, trial and error, uncomfortable repetition and the willingness to stay with a problem after the excitement disappears.
I do not see a difficult task as proof that I cannot do it. I see it as an invitation to discover what commitment can make possible.
National No. 1 in completely different worlds.
For most people, becoming national No. 1 remains a dream. I reached that level in both sport and memory competition. A separate two-day psychological assessment placed my cognitive ability in the top 1%.
The disciplines changed. The process did not: choose an extraordinary goal, commit fully, learn through failure and continue until the ambition becomes a visible result.

From European manager in Helsinki to global manager at the U.S. headquarters. Less than one year after hiring me, the CEO offered to relocate my family and me to the Boston area to lead global e-commerce for two brands.Different fields. The same process.
I choose difficult things on purpose.
Growing up, I watched people on television reach levels that most people could only dream of reaching. Their achievements made the question personal:
How far could I push my own abilities if I worked seriously enough?
When something looks intimidating, improbable or beyond my current ability, I am drawn to it. I break it down, study it, fail, adjust and stay with it until the impossible becomes something I can do.
These are not unrelated trophies. Each one is evidence of the same curiosity, commitment and way of working.
The world is filled with an endless number of difficult challenges. That excites me. It means I will never run out of opportunities to learn, grow and discover what else I can become.
Memory under pressure
Become nationally No. 1 in a completely new discipline
While managing a demanding full-time career, I spent evenings and free time training my memory for several months. In 2023, I became Finland’s national No. 1 in Pi memorization.
I chose Pi precisely because it appeared mentally extreme. I wanted to discover how far focused training could take an ordinary human memory.
Measured cognitive ability

in a two-day assessment
I qualified for Mensa membership through its official admission test. Later, I completed a separate two-day intelligence assessment administered by a local psychologist, which placed my cognitive ability in the top 1%.
A score alone does not create achievement. It helps explain the pattern recognition, rapid learning and complex problem-solving I have applied across technology, business, sport, memory and music.
Pattern recognition beyond memorization
I created my own algorithm for a massive 10×10 Rubik’s Cube.
Solving the classic 3×3 already looks impossible to many people. Published algorithms make it learnable, although memorizing and executing them is still challenging.
But I did not stop at the 3×3. A 3×3 has 26 visible pieces. A 4×4 has 56, about 115% more, while also introducing movable centers, edge pairing and parity problems. I learned the 4×4, continued to the 5×5 and then attempted the enormous 10×10.
The 10×10 has 488 visible pieces, nearly 19 times as many as the 3×3. Even after successfully solving the 5×5, it felt like a completely different animal.
I kept turning it, testing movements and failing. After hundreds and eventually thousands of moves, patterns began to emerge. On the seventh day, I developed a sequence in my own head, tested it and used it to complete the solve.
Most cube solvers rely on algorithms created by experts. I had progressed from following established methods to creating a method of my own.
A different kind of challenge
I saw someone solve it blindfolded. I had to find out if I could.
Solving a cube without sight required a new combination of spatial reasoning, algorithms and memory. I gave myself one weekend to learn it.

I searched online, found the methods and spent Saturday and Sunday studying how to move and solve the pieces one by one.
02 · Sunday evening
Fail, inspect, retry
On my first complete attempt, only two pieces were out of position. I tried again. The second attempt was a successful blindfolded solve.
03 · Months later
Increase the difficulty
Once solving one cube blindfolded felt comfortable, I memorized two scrambled cubes and solved both consecutively without sight.
From seeing the impossible on television to doing it myself in one weekend.
Professional sport
National No. 1 in sport. Representing South Korea on the world stage.
BMX flatland is a highly technical niche sport that few people dare to pursue seriously. Becoming a paid professional rider in South Korea was an exceptionally narrow goal.
At 16, I quit high school to pursue BMX and committed myself fully to becoming one of the few professional flatland riders in South Korea.
My progress in BMX began attracting attention even before I became a professional rider. Haitai Confectionery (해태제과), one of South Korea’s biggest food companies, selected me as the main model for a national TV commercial for Jayu Sigan (자유시간), then one of Korea’s most popular chocolate bars.
I became a Korean national champion, earned a living as a paid professional rider and was selected to represent South Korea at major international competitions. At the ESPN X Games in Malaysia, I advanced to the finals and became the only athlete among all participants from South Korea to reach that stage.
For a rider who emerged from Korea’s small BMX scene, reaching an X Games final was a result that had once seemed nearly impossible.

Before the titles and the professional contract, the market was already noticing.
Haitai chose me as the commercial’s main model while I was still a teenage BMX rider pursuing a path that barely existed in Korea.
Classical piano and original music
Yet another difficult challenge: teaching myself classical piano
I came from professional athletics and technology. Classical piano belonged to an entirely different world.
Playing a long classical work from memory is an ability many people admire but never experience themselves. Beginning as a self-taught adult makes the challenge even more intimidating. It requires technique, interpretation, coordination, concentration and the ability to hold an entire musical structure in memory.
That difficulty was exactly why I began.
I wanted to discover whether I could enter this unfamiliar discipline, train seriously and eventually perform classical works entirely from memory.
I shared the learning journey on social media from the beginning. Connecting with other adult beginners helped me continue through the slow and frustrating stages of learning.
Eventually, my journey reached Lang Lang.
The significance was not simply receiving attention from a famous musician. I had entered classical music as a self-taught adult with no background in the field. Years later, original music I had composed reached and was recognized by one of the greatest pianists of our time.
The same person at work

When I became a European e-commerce manager, I did not treat the role as a title. I treated the work as something to understand, improve and master.
The results led to an invitation to relocate to the Boston-area headquarters and lead global e-commerce for two Scandinavian brands. When the brands were acquired, both acquiring companies offered me roles.
The same process now drives the products I build myself: turn an idea into working technology, learn the market, test repeatedly and keep improving until people use it.
